The MS program at the Department of Computer Science and IT reflects a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and practical experience. The program provides students with a solid foundation in computer science theory, as well as hands-on experience in solving real-world problems, making it an excellent choice for students who want to pursue careers in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of technology.

The MS Data Science - MS DS programme equips students to transform data into actionable insights that enable one to make complex business decisions. Students will able to process large and complex data sets through computational, statistical, and machine learning techniques. This program provides exposure to the latest trends and technologies in this field. Thus, producing the manpower to fuel national and international emerging market of data science products. The demand for data scientists is growing exponentially. There is a great demand of Data Science specialists in national and international public and private sectors organizations. Some of the most common job titles for data scientists includes: Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Mining Engineer, Data Architect and Data Scientist.

Measurable Objectives of the Programme

  1. Provide students with a breadth of knowledge in applied domains of data science with a focused understanding of their area of expertise.
  2. Prepare students to successfully apply contemporary tools, knowledge, experience, analytical skills and critical thinking to effectively solve real-world problems in the domain of data science.
  3. Prepare students to function and communicate effectively as a leader or team member having understanding of professional ethics and social responsibility.
  4. Prepare students to adapt technological advancements related to data science research and development, and active participation in life-long learning.

Programme Outcomes of the Graduating Student

The programme consists of a number of core and elective courses. These courses are market-orientated which cover both the theoretical depth and practical considerations. The significant outcomes of the programme are to produce graduates with:

  1. an ability to apply knowledge to effectively solve practical and/or research problems in the domain of data science.
  2. an ability to analyze complex problems, and identify and define the innovative data-driven solutions.
  3. an ability to effectively preprocess and evaluate data by acquiring knowledge and required skills.
  4. an ability to manage data science projects with an understanding of professional ethics, social issues and responsibilities.
  5. an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
