  • Dr. Abdul Karim Kazi and Dr. Muhammad Kamran successfully completed the training on “Effective PhD Supervision” held from 7th to 10th October, 2024 at Lecture Hall, NED Academy, NED UET. This training was jointly arranged by QEC and ASRB which was aimed at Faculty Members who intended to attain NED Approved PhD Supervisor status.

  • We are pleased to announce that the NED University team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan (Chairman CSIT Dept) and Dr. Muhammad Kamran (Assistant Prof. CSIT Dept.), successfully presented the proposal for the establishment of the Quantum Computing Lab at NED University. The project, approved by the CDWP, is poised to revolutionize the landscape of quantum technology with a capital cost of Rs. 3208.374 million. The comprehensive presentation highlighted the university's robust capacity, including the strength of faculty members and support staff, as well as the extensive collaboration mechanisms envisioned between the university and local industries, including small and medium enterprises. The short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals of the lab were outlined, along with a detailed roadmap encompassing timelines, targets, and sustainability measures. Initially the funding of Rs. 169 million has been approved for this lab.
  • Dr. Maria Andleeb Siddiqui successfully participated in the two-day workshop on "Faculty Training on STEM Education," organized by the UK-Pakistan Science and Innovation Global Network (UP SIGN) on April 26-27, 2024. This workshop is part of a significant initiative to enhance STEM education practices, and to foster an innovative learning environment for the students.
  • Dr. Najeed Ahmed Khan conducted a dynamic session as a guest speaker for the 35th Senior Management Course at NIM, Karachi . His address was focused on the pivotal role of IT for effective policy implementation, service delivery, & monitoring. The session was attended by 38 Civil Servants from diverse backgrounds, representing both Provincial and Federal government departments / agencies. This was a fruitful exchange paving the way for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in public service across Pakistan.
  • Congratulations to Ms. Saadia Arshad for successfully completing the Classiq Quest Bootcamp 2023 and earning her "Quantum Developer (QDev) Certification"! During the bootcamp, Saadia worked with the cutting-edge Classiq platform in collaboration with IBM, gaining hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of quantum computing.

  • Ms. Samia Masood Awan attended 3 month MOITT Blockchain Bootcamp held at NTS Headquarters. The training covered various aspects of Blockchain technology and provided valuable knowledge of latest practices of Web3 technologies.
  • Dr. Waseemullah attended a 3-month Bootcamp on Data Science held at Karachi University. The training covered various aspects of Data Science and provided valuable knowledge of the current practices.
  • Dr. Muhammad Kamran visited INRIM, Turin, Italy for 4 weeks in November 2023. The training was sponsored by NED-UET (Through Sindh HEC SRSP). The purpose of this visit was to get insight and knowledge on foundations of Quantum Optics.
  • Dr. Saman Hina was invited by Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) on 5th December, 2023 as a panelist for an academic event titled “Exploring AI’s Transformative Impact on Education.” The event provided opportunities to the speakers, panelists and participants to discuss implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for teaching and assessment strategies. The other panelists included Dr. Syeda Saleha Raza, Associate Professor, Habib University and Dr. Masood Jawaid, Director of Medical Affairs, PharmEvo.

  • Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan and Muhammad Kamran have been awarded a research grant PKR 2.75 Million under Sindh Research Support Program by Sindh HEC for the Project Title: "Prototype development of high dimensional quantum key distribution system for a highly secure free-space communication system." June 2022 to May 2024 Approval Letter NO. AD(RESEARCH)/SHEC/1-11/2021.

  • Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan was awarded the Best Researcher Award 2021 by NEDUET after publishing more than three high quality JCR publications in the calendar year 2021.
  • Dr. Najeed Ahmed Khan was awarded the Best Teacher Award for the year 2018 by NED Alumni Association of Southern California (NEDAASC) in the category of Associate Professor.

  • Dr. Shariq Mahmood Khan successfully completed "Higher Education Teachers Training 2019" from NED University.

  • Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan was awarded the travel grant (RS. 150,000/-) from NED UET for presenting his research paper in The 9th International Conference on Information and Communication Systems (ICICS 2018).
  • Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan successfully passed the Huawei Certified Academy Instructor (HCAI) examination, March 2018.
